1. ambivalance avenue
2. jealous of roses
3. all the flowers
4. fire ant
5. haikuesque (when she laughs)
6. sugarette
7. lovers' carvings
8. abrasion
9. s'vive
10. the palm of your wave
11. cry! baby!
12. dwrcan

my favorite thing about this album is that it feels like you're listening to a cassette or an album on vinyl. the way the beat kind of warps in "jealous of roses" reminds me of the way a record kind of skips while being played. all the beats in the songs are memorable. i imagine that if i lived somewhere in new york during the summer like 20 years ago, this would be the sounds of the street. "fire ant" has a sort of summertime, old school hip-hop vibe which i'm obsessed with. (obv) "ambivalence avenue" is the perfect song to ride your bike to--riding through forsyth on a sunny afternoon, ugh, i wish i was doing that right now! "lover's carvings" is a great driving song. I like the use of the gock block (could go along with the your car's clicker). Along with succesful beats/rhythms, his voice isn't over powering or too in your face. It's almost filtered like you're looking at your day through sunglasses.

Karen O is up for a Grammy and has a Golden Globe nod!

"This morning, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominations for this year's Golden Globe Awards, and Karen O and Carter Burwell'sscore for Where the Wild Things Are is up for the Best Original Score - Motion Picture award...And in an unexpected twist, the Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack has found itself nominated for another award. Last week, Wild Things director Spike Jonzerevealed on his blog that the Karen O and the Kids song "All Is Love" is now also up for a Grammy for Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.

If you'll recall, the Grammy nominations actually came out two weeks ago, and theyweren't too interesting. But according to Jonze's blog, a Miley Cyrus song that was originally nominated in that category has been disqualified. When a nominee is disqualified, the song with the next-most votes gets the nomination, and in this case it's "All Is Love"."

i came across these shoes via this other blog I'm Revolting and i think they're pretty killer. they sort of remind me of wonder woman's invisible jet with how the camouflage. the planar aspect of the shoe is also very architectural. shoes by Andreia Chaves

city is a pity half of y'all won't make it

pensando cada dia, cada hora. pensando en ti.
perhaps it's the fact that i'm currently not doing anything productive with my life/break or perhaps i'm really over living in florida but i cannot stop thinking about new york. i can't stop about what will happen next summer. will i nail an internship in the city? or should i take summer courses? or should i just live on my friend charlotte's couch in new york next summer? so many possibilities and i'm sooo excited. i just can't wait to get out and start my life.
i went to a vintage clothing store today and almost bought this gorgeous white sequined cropped top. the sequins formed a scalloped design. sequins are popping all over the place now and i think that the fact that the top is made of white sequins makes it easier to wear this trend. i think i'll be heading back tomorrow to buy tha shii. it also zips up in the back so i could use it as a vest!

when j00se goes bad.

So I went to go see what the fuss was about Precious tonight and yeah...I really can't decide if this was a cohesive film. I mean, the character development needs improvement. (However, the main characters of Precious and her monster of a mother, played by Mo'Nique, are executed well. I mean, they have to be, they drive the plot.) But the supporting characters, such as Precious' class mates at an alternative school, leave the viewer wondering what is their problem? Her teacher and sort of mentor's story is kind of rushed and difficult to understand. Another issue I had difficulty with was the way Precious' daydreams were staged. It shows how every time Precious faces a devasting situation, because her life really fucking sucks (and i'm not being sarcastic) that she always has her hopes and dreams and that's a universal theme. BUT yet again, Tyler Perry makes a movie that depicts a terrible story of someone facing insurmountable odds. I'm just really tired of his crap. And Oprah states that Mo'Nique's performance is Oscar-worthy...

But here's the REAL reason why ya'll should go see it .... MARIAH CAREY WEARS NO MAKEUP and not only sounds like she's from Brooklyn but also like she's been smoking 2 packs a day for the past 15 yeaz. There's also this really cool Jamaican actress and I want her accent.
