“The A-1 Scrabble designer edition. The purpose of this project was to revive an old, but loved game: Scrabble. The idea was to excite people about typography by giving them the ability to choose what font their scrabble set would come in. The set would come in the font of your choice or with an assorted font pack. The scrabble board and interior box are made out of solid walnut, and the exterior box is made from birch. Each of the 6 board pieces is magnetized to fit together perfectly and each piece slides nicely into its respective slot in the box and is secured by interior magnets as well. French designer, Phillipe Apeloig, is famous for his typography and matching typographic posters. In Type II, we're working on designing our own alphabets/typefaces. I drew a lot of inspiration from his work and my posters display simply two letterforms, stressing the contrast. Pics up soon, yo.

but this website, Lovely Package, is killing meeeee. Midnight Moon is a brand of Moonshine; the packaging done by Shane Cranford. Based out of North Carolina, Cranford has a distinct style that carries out throughout all of his projects. It's a sort of blend of old style typography, old style meaning, retro, 50's or 60s with mis-registration with the clients needs/wants. All i know is that i want/need this fa sho. Cranford has done work for the likes of Coca-Cola, Single Brothers, and he designed the football brochure for Wake Forest University.

As the holiday extravaganza that is Christmas approaches, one thing and one thing only comes to a gal's mind...SHOOZ. THE shoe of the season, it seems, is the Lita by none other than the genius that is Jeffrey Campbell. I know, the heel and platform looks really intense, but i mean, if you're gonna wear glitter heels, ya might as well wear these bad boys. It's a 5" heel with a 2" platform. I've tried them on and I'm usually really picky when it comes to heels because I'm flatfooted, but I could totally rock these! (especially the glitter ones, did i mention i like glitter?) They are a little expensive but totes worth it, in my opinion. Wear them with socks or tights and you're guaranteed to have a killer holiday.

Same guys that brought you "Summer in SF" (my last post, Dowling Duncan) won a dollar redesign project this year. They were interviewed by pretty much every network and news station/newspaper and they deserved it! The design is fresh and well thought out. Each number is backed up with a cool fact about our US history. For instance, the hundred dollar bill illustrates the First Hundred Days in office by Prez FDR. The five dollar bill is for the 5 biggest Native American tribes in the US. I know, I know, Helvetica. But i'm sorry, when it's used properly, it looks fantastic. sorry bout it.

For my final in Studio I, I had to come up with 3 magazine ads for either Heifer International, DuckTape, or Outward Bound. I chose DuckTape for their versatility. The ads are geared towards college students who are scrapped for cash. We had to create a third form of advertisement and I chose to make a YouTube video instead of another print ad. I had a fun time thinking of the copy and taking the photos. The photos are not professional and they're not meant to be, they are supposed to look like the student took them himself.

Solange Azagury- Partridge has no formal jewelry making schooling, which is pretty impressive because her stuff is very conceptual and well made. Tom Ford selected her as the creatvive director for Boucheron (celebrated Parisian jewelery maker). She has even designed stuff for H&M.

On a sour note, I'm pretty sure I've been blacklisted. I love the form-fitted dresses of Herve Leger, great way to show off dem curves gurl. Werk it. Alexander Wang is just quintessential cool, downtown chic. I was never a huge fan of Burberry until now. I've always tried to stay in the know with the current fashions. It's so difficult when you live on a serious budget as a college student, which is why I constantly stock up on the staples, i.e. denim shirt, classic white button up (size larger then what i usually wear) red matte lipstick, etc. But lately, I feel so blah. I've always had a very lengthy and at times unhealthy love affair with food. I just love food; i can't help it. Spicy, salty, sweet, tangy, anything food i'm in. Food Network is among my top 5 favorite channels and I have a HUGE crush on Anthony Bourdain. But today, that all ends! Well, at least for 7 days...I'm starting a detox diet today called the GM Diet, yes it's a diet developed by the makers of General Mills food products. The first day consists of strictly fruits and 10 glasses of water (melons are preferred) Tomorrow is all vegetables along with another 10 glasses of water. I'll keep posting the changes everyday. But the predicted weight loss from this diet is 10 lbs (we'll see if that holds true).

On a lighter note, New York was cool! It was filled with adventures hopping on and off trains and subway trains. Went to the MoMa finally and I died when I saw the Swiss Style posters.
