my life be like

this is my friend Joe Ball. he occasionally checks this blog but about 5 minutes ago I decided I would make a series of posts that remind me of Joe. getjoeball.com Joe is currently in Chicago, and I can't wait till he's back in Sav so i can hear all about it, but srsly Joe, I want to hear all about it. gimme

I actually really don't like Absinthe, wish I did but I don't know, it's waaay too much licorice flavor for this gal. But I'm all about this package design. Absolutely beautiful; the embossing is exquisite. So I wouldn't mind buying a bottle and having my friends drink it, as long as I get to keep the bottle.

inspiration for an upcoming project

French designer, Phillipe Apeloig, is famous for his typography and matching typographic posters. In Type II, we're working on designing our own alphabets/typefaces. I drew a lot of inspiration from his work and my posters display simply two letterforms, stressing the contrast. Pics up soon, yo.

great gatsby business cards

Not only is The Great Gatsby my favorite novel but now these are my favorite business cards. What a cool/nerdy concept. I totally geeked out when I saw this. Brought to you by The Heads of State. Anyone want to get me this poster, it's only $90....

I wish I could've seen this silent film. It's the story of Louis Armstrong, legendary jazz trumpet player. But the coolest part about the showing of the film is that music is LIVE and performed by none other than Winton Marsalis and a 10 piece jazz ensemble!!!!

maybe i'm getting carried away

but this website, Lovely Package, is killing meeeee. Midnight Moon is a brand of Moonshine; the packaging done by Shane Cranford. Based out of North Carolina, Cranford has a distinct style that carries out throughout all of his projects. It's a sort of blend of old style typography, old style meaning, retro, 50's or 60s with mis-registration with the clients needs/wants. All i know is that i want/need this fa sho. Cranford has done work for the likes of Coca-Cola, Single Brothers, and he designed the football brochure for Wake Forest University.

So these lightbulbs be blowin up many a blog, and I thought I should acknowledge them being as I've already made a post about lightbulbs (check the want/need tags). These may not be as energy efficient as the Plumen UK ones but they've got some sick packaging and turn your typical, run-of-the-mill lightbulb into a piece of art. And if you've got the money to blow, why not drop $65 on these bad boys. Upside, they do come in packs of three. Exclusively designed by KAWS for the ever-hip Standard Hotel, yet another reason to go to California or New York (this list is getting out of hand...)

"Designed by Kelly Thorn | Country: United States

“The assignment was Diablo Salsa and Tortilla packaging, and it had to have a Mexican feel. I decided to use Catholicism in Mexico for inspiration, and found some Patron Saint candles to work off of. This is the final product.”"

This is an amazing site, I'm currently obsessed and it makes me hate my life even more. Will I ever be able to create something as sick as packaging for a salsa? or brand and brew my own beer? Anyways, check it out y'all. LovelyPackage.com

Found on the blog, The Heads of State, this package design for joints would have Dre wanting to market this shit. Nice clean, graphic design fitted with humorous titles such as "Possibly Oregano," or my personal fav, "Vermont Ski Trip." Lemme get dat.
